Mid-boom Sheeting

I was trying to shy away from doing this, as I didn't have any problem with the factory sheeting setup at all.

The ONLY reason I went ahead was so that I could have mainsheet control from outside the aft cockpit now that I have the tiller steering set up..

These are Harken 57mm carbo air blocks 2616, 2602, and 2600. The price on these things are completely out of control. Luckily I found two of the three on ebay.

For the boom, I used a Ronstan boom strap, number RF135. It has TWELVE fasteners on four legs.

I decided not to reinforce anything on the boom --- yet. I'll keep an eye on it.

I did have to reverse the cam cleat on the fiddle so that the sheet releases by pulling up, not down, as others have done.

The angle is such that the release-down position just wouldn't work. There are instructions with the block on how to flip the cam over - it's not hard.

I used snap shackles on the aka connections so I could quickly take it apart to stow the boom inside when on the trailer.
